Thyax
Thyax® the exclusive formula for underactive thyroid
disease, or hypothyroidism Product Description
Thyax is a high-potency supplement, designed to adjust
the metabolic and nutritional alterations caused by underactive thyroid
disease, or hypothyroidism.
The most common treatments for hypothyroidism are prescription medications.
Existing as synthetic thyroid hormone, these popular medicines are intended
to replace the T4 hormone, which the body naturally produces. However,
many patients have failed to respond to such treatments. Many physicians
point to the lack of T3 in such medicines as the cause for little or no
symptom relief in a large number of persons with hypothyroidism. Because
of this, a growing number of individuals within the medical community
have supported the use of natural or alternative therapies for hypothyroidism
support.
As mentioned, the thyroid does require its own nutritional support for
optimal health. Thyax accomplishes this by supplementing nutrients into
the body that can support thyroid functioning on a permanent basis. Proper
thyroid function requires adequate amounts of vitamin C, B-vitamin compounds,
zinc, iodine, and copper; nutrients found in Progressive Health's thyroid
support formula. In addition to these thyroid supporting nutrients, Thyax
also includes an L-tyrosine complex and L-phenylalanine; amino acids which
are integral for the production of the neurotransmitters associated with
hormone production, as well as the stability of endocrine glandular processes.
By stimulating the thyroid with natural components, Thyax not only eliminates
the many adverse reactions and side effects of conventional thyroxine
drugs, but may potentially restore normal thyroid hormone levels, relieve
hypothyroidism symptoms, and reverse of any metabolic abnormalities associated
with lowered thyroid hormone levels.
Thyax Ingredients
Acetyl L-Tyrosine, L-tyrosine complex- Tyrosine is required for synthesis
of thyroid hormones, and deficiency of phenylalanine and L-tyrosine has
been associated with hypothyroidism. A form of tyrosine, acetyl-L-tyrosine
in combination with phenylalanine has been shown to sufficiently meet
the requirement of a certain class of amino acids in adults.
Zinc (picolinate)- Required for the manufacture of thyroid hormones,
zinc is also necessary for overall growth and development. Patients with
hypothyroidism may have impaired intestinal zinc absorption and lower
levels of plasma zinc. Treatment with zinc improved thyroid function and
reduced the incidence of subclinical hypothyroidism in patients with Down
syndrome, who have an increased risk of hypothyroidism. As well, the addition
of zinc supplementation to L-thyroxine therapy in hypothyroid animals
improved wound healing.
L-Phenylalanine - As a precursor to the amino acid tyrosine, phenylalanine
plays an important role in thyroid function. Deficiency of phenylalanine
and L-tyrosine has been associated with hypothyroidism.
Iodine (Kelp)- Iodine is a trace element that is required for thyroid
hormone synthesis. Deficiency of iodine causes goiter, thyrotoxicosis
and developmental disorders in children (8,9). Even mild iodine deficiency
can result in hypothyroidism and thyroid disorders, especially in at risk
populations. However, excess iodine can actually inhibit thyroid function,
and combined dietary and supplemental levels should not exceed 600mcg
per day.
Selenium (Sodium Selenite)- Selenium (in the form of selenoproteins)
is necessary for the production and conversion of thyroid hormones. In
addition to iodine supplementation, selenium may mitigate development
of hypothyroidism and may be essential for those with congenital hypothyroidism.
When combined iodine and selenium deficiencies exist, selenium must always
be given with iodine or thyroid hormone.
Copper (Gluconate), Manganese (citrate), Molybdenum- These trace minerals
are closely tied to thyroid function. In animal studies, copper and manganese
deficiency and hypothyroidism were worsened when these conditions existed
together.
Vitamin B1 (thiamine HCl), Vitamin B2 (riboflavin),Vitamin B3 (niacin),Vitamin
B5 (d-Calcium Pantothenate)- These B vitamins are essential for energy
production, mood, nervous system function and wound healing. One of the
main complaints of hypothyroidism is fatigue, which is mostly caused by
low levels of thyroid hormone, but may also be the result of low B vitamin
status.
Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine HCL),Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin),Folic Acid-
Required for optimal function of the nervous and immune systems, these
B vitamins are useful in reducing levels of homocysteine, a detrimental
amino acid associated with heart disease. Patients with hypothyroidism
have significantly higher plasma levels of homocysteine. Supplementation
with vitamin B6, B12 and folic acid can lower homocysteine.

Thyax Reviews
My wife has had a borderline thyroid problem for years. Recently it started to get worse. We found out about your product and she has had great success.
I have been on synthroid for over 5 years. I did not perceive any real problems. When my wife had success with your product, I decided to switch. I decided that I would stop synthroid one day and start your product the next. The only side effect that I noticed was on the first evening. I had a "buzz" of "high". This did not continue after the first night.
To date neither of us has hand any additional side effects. I did not realize the side effects that I was having from synthroid: excessive sweating, falling asleep watching TV, lack of ambition. My wife says I am a different person. My wife's thinning hair has begun to thicken up.
One effect that we both noticed is that our allergies seemed to have disappeared. My wife was taking 3-5 antihistamines per week and I was taking 2 or 3. Since the first week, neither of us has taken and antihistamine.

Hypothyroidism
Hypothyroidism is more common than one might expect. Currently, hypothyroidism is the most common pathological condition related to a hormone deficiency. It is estimated that 3-5% of the entire population suffers from some form of this condition. Getting to the root of this deficiency is critical as many conditions can arise if hypothyroidism is not definitively diagnosed. Today, medical treatments for hypothyroidism are geared towards hormone replacement.
